News from National Schools Partnership

Posted on Monday, June 10th, 2013

National Youth Film Festival
We are very excited about the upcoming launch of the National Youth Film Festival 2013 on Thursday 18th June. We’ve been busy inviting a whole host of guests ranging from exhibitors, distributors, and the media to young people involved in FILMCLUB and educators from all over the UK. There will be a presentation from Film Nation as well as young people talking about the National Youth Film Festival 2013 which will be held in the autumn.

The success of Birds Eye’s ‘The Great Food Journey’ has given us the chance to experience field to fork learning first hand. New Birds Eye peas have been shooting out of pots all over the office this month – a great celebration of registering 1,000 schools to the programme which teaches children about the exciting journey of their food. Stay tuned to see how our lovely peas get on!

Mushrooms are awesome!
We’ve been working with the Mushroom Bureau for two years in a quest to teach children about the benefits of eating mushrooms as part of a healthy diet. Following the success of last year, we have now recruited 100 schools for the next phase of the project.

Epic, the new movie from 20th Century Fox
We are taking schools on an exciting journey of discovery with Epic, the new 3D animation from the creators of Ice Age. The project helps pupils to discover the fascinating hidden world that is right on their doorstep. Pupils have been transformed into science ‘minibeast investigators’ and budding writers are given the chance to win an ‘Epic’ garden for their schools designed by an expert landscaper.

Update from new starter, Caroline Horgan
“I joined National Schools Partnership right in the middle of what was called “the busiest week they’ve EVER had”. A month and a half later and every week since could have pinched that title – and that’s been a brilliant way to, as quickly as possible, learn the ropes, start contributing, and get to know the unusually lovely set of people who work here.”
